University of Southampton (UoS)
The University of Southampton (UoS) is a member of the Russell Group of 20 leading universities in the UK. UoS has made substantial long-term investment in nutrition research to identify the mechanisms linking nutrition with lifelong health, including the £9m Institute of Developmental Sciences focused on nutritional science. It hosts the £14.5m National Institute for Health Research Southampton Biomedical Research Centre with a major theme in nutrition, conducting translational research on nutrition across the lifecourse, and the £14.5m Medical Research Council Lifecourse Epidemiology Unit (ranked as world leading in its external review). UoS played a lead role in the research demonstrating that nutrition in early life has a major influence on chronic disease risk in later life and is acknowledged internationally as the home of this concept.
The role of UoS in the project:
- The theoretical and practical behaviour change skills development components of the diet and micronutrient training course through adapting the ‘Healthy Conversation Skills’ approach.
- The instructional design and media creation SOPs for eLearning modules.
- The Training of the Trainers (ToT) module, training materials and trainer manual.
